What's New at Aloha Lagoon...

Today I took the leap for all my clients by trying out Zulu's Zowie Zipline Adventures. Yes, my dear guests, Gabby LeClair, your dedicated travel agent, made the ultimate sacrifice just to be able to share with you her very own island adventure.

Zulu sent a four-wheel-drive SUV to pick me up at Aloha Lagoon Resort. We drove up to the lush rolling hills of north-central Kauai where we hiked about a half-mile of backcountry to the launching area.

Harnessed and helmeted, my heart pounding out of my chest, I held my breath and jumped. The wind whooshing by me, I flew over the gorgeous scenery rushing below, suspended above the earth like a soaring eagle. Yes, I screamed at first—like a six-year-old with a spider on her nose. I'm not ashamed to admit it. You would have too. But after a few seconds, I opened my eyes and took a look, and, me-oh-my, what a view-what a rush-what a ride.

All too soon, the (IMO) very small man handling the brake at the end of the ride came into my field of vision, and I began to slow, then to stop, and he grabbed hold of me. My feet made contact with terra firma. And even if my knees were still shaking and my breath was still coming in quick, shallow gasps. I managed to say, "Holy-moly. Can I go again?"

Want to have an island adventure of your own? Call extension 72 at the Aloha Lagoon Resort, ask about Zulu's Zowie Zipline Adventures, and you too can go where only eagles dare.

If you're like me, you want to have pictures of your vacation that really capture the feeling of the place. Luckily, here at Aloha Lagoon we have lots of places to set the mood—and a few that create the mood, if you know what I mean.

My favorite spot for a posed photograph has got to be the Wailua Falls just to the north of the resort. It's quite a hike, I'll admit, but it's so beautiful that you just have to see it to believe it! If it's a more casual, spontaneous atmosphere you crave, check out the beach just below the resort; with the constantly changing horizon, you never know what you'll see!

Aloha, friends!
Hey guys! The Loco Moco Café—also known as my newest place of employment—has an awesome band that plays on Saturday nights. And before they come on there's...guess what? Yep, you know it, karaoke! Seriously, I am the Queen of Karaoke. Okay, I know I'm not that great, but I am improving. Last week I didn't even shatter one drink glass!

So what do you think I should sing? Maybe "Kokomo" by the Beach Boys? How about "The Piña Colada Song?" Or is that too much stereotyping of the island? Hmm. Wait a second. How about something for the folks back in my home state of Vermont..."White Christmas!" Anyhow, be sure to stop on by! Chef Poncho makes an awesome pineapple salsa that's to die for. A tip: try it with tortilla chips. Karaoke starts at seven, and the band comes on at eight. Plus we've got mai tai specials. Buy one, get one free. Yeah, my new boss wouldn't like that. He's kind of cheap. But then again, he's also kind of dead...
